I saw our neighbor feeding this cat the other day but she seems to like sitting on our porch and in our swing when she's not trying to catch birds in the garden. She never will let us get close but often watches us. I've drawn cats before but never tried to paint one. I also used acrylic which is unusual for me.

I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors.
