Title
Wild Abandon - Irises, Peonies and Baptisia in the garden in May
Artist
Bonnie Mason
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
In the back of the garden, where no one can see their decaying forms once the garden phlox and daisies grow tall, the irises, baptisia, peonies and bletilla make quite a show in early spring. They have a few short days to "put it all out there"...and then they're gone. It reminds me of Mary Oliver's poem A Summer Day which ends with sharing how she'd spent the day wandering in the fields, "wasting time" most people would say, and then-
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?
