Some of my best memories from childhood are playing in creeks and rivers in the summertime...they were great places to dream. Sit on a rock, dangle your toes in the cool water...watch the bugs walking on top of the water! That always fascinated me :) This is a beautiful spot along Wolf Creek near my sister's home in Bland County, Virginia.

I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors.
