Description
The first time I saw this old homeplace was in the middle of winter from my sister's home Rocky Gap, Virginia. Because of the bright sunshine and snow and no leaves on the trees I could see it sitting on a hilltop across the valley and was intrigued because I'd never noticed it before. The next summer we asked her neighbor who owned it if we could go see it and he kindly said yes. I believe he said it was built by his grandparents but I'll have to check and make sure of that. Perhaps I can find out when it was built. It was such a peaceful quiet place...This is the first painting I was able to do of it - a 4x12" gallery wrapped piece.

You've captured the heart and soul of the Virginia countryside. You go straight to the heart of those of us who love this area deeply. I grew up in Maryland and a lot of my childhood was spent in the what-was-then countryside of Anne Arundel County … and which, in those days, mirrored this peace and stillness you've re created here. Since then, I've lived in Virginia, souther and northern Maryland and now the panhandle of West Virginia. Must include our little ski cabin in central Pennsylvania. And in each area, I've discovered and treasured scenes similar to the one you've created here. The rolling mountains (that west coasters might snicker at! 😁 but they're OUR mountains) .. the light, the colors, the gently curving fence lines … and the sense of history … the what was. Like I said, Bonnie, right to the heart. You are a gift to the rest of us!!!!!!! lf t fb
