God's Thumbprint - Burke's Garden in Southwest Virginia metal print by Bonnie Mason. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The high gloss of the aluminum sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

Artist's Description
I first visited Burke's Garden several years ago with my family and was immediately fascinated with its unique beauty. It is sometimes called "God's Thumbprint" because of the way it looks from the air. Some people say it looks like a volcanic crater. According to scientists it was once an ancient "sea" and formed when limestone cavers collapsed to form its bowl like appearance. It is the highest mountain valley in Virginia at 3000 feet and has some of the most fertile farmland in the state because of the ring of mountains which drain into it. I'd love to spend more time there someday and paint some of the views from the Appalachian Trail.

About Bonnie Mason
I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors. Together, we've gone places -both physically and artistically- I'd never have gone alone.
