Artist's Description
Sometimes when I see an awe inspiring landscape I begin to hear the majestic theme music by John Barry for Out of Africa...I don't know why. Maybe it's a sense of awe at the wonders of this special place I'm blessed to live in and explore. As the sun was setting on this beautiful valley there was a lovely bit of light touching some of the higher valleys and tops of the trees while gentle blues, soft aquas and greens filled the shadows and everything farthest away just faded into lavender and pink...

About Bonnie Mason
I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors. Together, we've gone places -both physically and artistically- I'd never have gone alone. Although my oil paintings are inspired by real places and things, my goal is to create a strong composition and a...

Bonnie, the Blue Ridge parkway is probably one of the most amazing panoramic vistas to behold!! In decades past, I regularly traveled from Connecticut to Ithaca NY which took me thru the Catskills and skirted the Adirondacks. Glorious in warm weather, treacherous in winter, the curving highways offered majesty, exhilaration, and dances with courage along the well- big-rig- truck-traveled, otherwise desolate stretches. Your BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY COLLECTION reminds me of the LARGE SCALE GRANDEUR! LF...gorgeous series.
