Watching the sun set from an overlook on Skyline Drive in Virginia- that's a wonderful way to end the day- even if it is a little foggy! We had been exploring some trails near the Big Meadows area and were driving back to Waynesboro when we stopped to watch and enjoy that beautiful view as the sun went down.

I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors. Together, we've gone places -both physically and artistically- I'd never have gone alone.
