This was one of my first plein air pieces. It was scary and thrilling but deeply satisfying. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to concentrate with people all around but once I started putting paint on - everything else seemed to fade away. I was glad to come home with this humble record of such a happy experience!

About Bonnie Mason
I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors. Together, we've gone places -both physically and artistically- I'd never have gone alone.
